Summer is for swimming

I am a firm believer in kids knowing how to swim! That said we spent alot of time in the pool this summer. My son is 100% unafraid of the water (he takes after mom not dad), so we have to be quick in the water these days

He is getting better at his swimming... but unfortunately he has figured out he can be lazy if he has swimmys on.
Honey and Piph (his cousin) are two of his favorite people to swim with!

Eating popcorn with Piphy and Oliver. Snack time only lasted for like three minutes and Jay was ready to get back in the water.

Lol... a boy after my own heart, a jet ski and crab goggles!

Philly in July...HOT

June was a pretty quiet month of work... Actually my brothers came and cut down two dead trees in my yard for my birthday which was very very exciting.

Then in July we went to Philly for one of Charles good friends weddings. Its was a great trip. Jacob is quite the road warrior! We drove the 28 hrs (14hr each way) round trip with no hassle at all. And to top it off my newly potty trained 2 1/2 year old only had one accident the whole way. I was one proud mommy!!

While we were at the wedding Nana took Jacob to Sesame Place. (Its basically Disney world with sesame street characters) Jacob literally had the time of his life.

One of Nana's friends went with them so Jacob had a buddy named Chase to play with. He drug his Nana through a water park and on numerous roller coasters! He still talks about it on a weekly basis.

WE LOVE OUR NANA!!!

This is Jacob in Aunt Jean's lap.

Having some fun with Uncle Aaron because he is so cool!
Despite the fact it was boiling hot while we were there we had such a great trip!!

Pictures Finally: Beach Trip

I know it has literaly been an entire summer since I've blogged so i'm going to try and spend a week to catch up a little.

The first and one of the biggest highlights of the summer was a a trip to the beach with our good friends Lisa and Barry. It was Jacob's first trip to the beach and he has asked me pretty much every week since, "when are we going back to the beach mommy?"

Lisa and Barry!

I thought Jacob might have a breakdown about sand in the bathing suite... boy was I wrong!

At first he wasnt sure what he thought about the waves. About 10 minutes later he was jumping in.

I'm pretty sure my boys are ready to leave Nashville behind and move to the beach. :)

Such a fun trip!!

Phade Cuts: Jacobs First Hair Cut

Alright my two month blogging furlow is over! No excuse just a busy life.

We took a a road trip two weeks ago and Jacob got his first hair cut!! We went down to Phade Cuts our friend Shyhied's barber shop. (Shy and Charles grew up together... He gave Charles hair cuts for years growing up) Jacob is lookin pretty good. I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I started seeing the the curls fall to the floor. It looks great though... he looks sooo much older.

Uncle Shy gives my boys the best hair cuts I've ever seen on them

We love Uncle Shay's barber shop because he has blow pops!!!

The poor barber sheet will never be the same after the blow pop.

He is Risen!

Happy Easter! We had a great Sunday. It was absolutely beautiful here in Nash. We went down to my Aunt and Uncle's farm and had Easter lunch. As you can imagine great weather on a farm is a dream for a 2 yr old. My Uncle John took all the kids out in the "farmers truck" as my niece calls it and we got to see the cows! It was great. Then all the kiddos had an Easter egg hunt. Our day was tons of outdoor fun!

Thanks to Mommy there were colorful cheerios (fruit loops) in some of the eggs! Jacob thought that was the best ever... for get the chocolate if their are colored cheerios.

He really looks like he should be golfing in that outfit!
The kids and their 'loot' from the eater egg hunt.

After the first egg Jay just wanted to sit down and eat what was in it. He didn't care at all about putting it in his basket and finding more!

Happy Easter!

Egg-tastic!

I had no idea when I bought 60 Paas egg dyeing kits for $1 last year at a garage sale (yep you heard me... I've been giving egg kits to everyone I know!) that Jacob would have so much fun dyeing eggs this year!!

He was beyond excited about it even before the water changed colors... you can imagine his excitement when I dropped in the dye tablets!
It was a great way to continue practicing our colors. Haha, slowly but surely he is seeing something other than blue.

This was both Daddy and Jacob's first time to dye eggs!

Every morning since we dyed them he wants to look at them in the fridge.
(What in the world was I thinking leting him dye eggs in a white shirt!)

Popcorn Party!

Well, I've had a sick kido all week. Thankfully he finally woke up without a fever this morning, so hopefully we are on the mend. The poor kid was feeling so bad yesterday he didnt even want to go get daddy (we had to do a hand off as Charles got off work and I headed to work). I'm pretty sure that has NEVER happened. Daddy is pretty much the most exciting thing in our world!

This is us Friday having a popcorn party on the deck!

I made Jay sit in the sun with me because it was still freezing in the shade. He is in love with helping me pop popcorn on the stove and watching the kernals explode.

Cherry Blossom Fest

Nash is always good for some free entertainment come spring and summer. This weekend we went to the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival!

Jacob got a balloon turtle and a tiger tattoo. As you can imagine he was THRILLED!

He was really mad at us in this picture and refused to smile. We are siting right by the big fountains that you can play in... but mommy and daddy are so mean and wouldn't let him play in the water. Low 60's and windy, not exactly water weather. Ironically he got sick later that night anyway.

The coolest part of the festival was the huge Japanese drums. We were all pretty mesmerized. Watch out TSU... you drum core cant touch Japanese 'Thunder Drums.'

For Love of the Game

I LOVE Baseball. To me going to the ballpark means summer is here! Or at least close. We went and watched Belmont play Lipscomb this weekend. Great weather to be at a ballpark. Jacob will tell you the ball goes "ping!" He brought his glove for the first time... we thought the big baseball boys would hit a ball to us. Well he lasted though two innings and then realized there was a large body of water near by to be explored.

Throwing rocks and not getting in trouble for it is soooo much fun!!

Jacob was way to busy to smile. I really thought he might jump in the lake. If our experiences with the pool are any indication... he might have.

Some Hints of Spring

TN finally got the first glimps of spring! We caught Aunt Molly before work one day and had some BiG fun. They played Baseball, Tennis, and he climbed his first tree!!! Yep, Aunt Molly is the best.

Good thing Molly was holding him in the tree because he has no fear and just jumped off the branch!

I love spring in the south. You can smell it in the air!

Potty Training Pitfalls!

Well, I realize its been a month. Crazy how time can fly like that and it is almost April!!! So I will try this week to catch you up with our life...

My grandfather died last week after a very full 86 years. He loved the Lord and his family and we are happy that he is safely home with Jesus.

Work has been crazy. I've been juggling multiple jobs, and thanks to my family Jacob was well cared for in the process!

Charles office moved... yeah! He is closer to us now!!

And in big Jacob news we are starting to potty train. Haha it has been quite the adventure. I realized quickly I was not as prepared as I should have been.

As you can tell he is very proud of his underwear... however he peed through a whole pack in one morning. It became quite clear I did not buy enough. (good grief how can that little underwear be so expensive!)
I bought the potty thinking we would just have it in the house so he would know what it was... ummm, I didn't really expect him to pee on it every time he sat down! It quickly became evident he was ahead of me in this process. Haha, despite the fact he is great at going when he sits down on the potty we haven't quite figured out how to tell mommy we need to go. Its more of a "mommy I need potty!!!" with a stricken look as he is going. Oh well, we are a work in progress.

Ahh yes the loves of his life: footballs, rain boots and underwear! What more could you want.

Go Dores'

I love college basket ball! And so do my boys.
Jacob yet again mesmerized by the band that was dancing with their horns!
We got cool banners!

My son who NEVER falls asleep when we are out and about was apparently worn out! He crashed on daddy's lap in the 4th quarter.

Just in case you don't know Vandy is ranked 20th and Lipscomb just won their conference Sat night. We got some pretty good ball in Nash. And because my hubby is a hustler we got $5 tix to the Vandy game!! Impressive huh!

My Olympian

Well wow, a full two weeks of the winter Olypics has gone by without a single blog entry. Sorry about that. Busy life!

I thought you might want to catch a glimps of my skier, snowboarder, hockey player, speed skater...

We had alot of fun watching the Olypics and over the course of two weeks Jacob was a little bit of everything. But with every different sport we had our helmet and flat bed truck (ski, snowboard, ice skate). He added in a few props along the way like a golf club (hockey stick).
